Dot NAME Domain Names

Started in 2001, the Dot NAME generic extension is the single TLD meant for personal web pages only. These domains can be personal or fictional names, aliases and/or other labels people are popular by. At the beginning, only third-level registrations were allowed, so if you planned to acquire john.doe.name, you were supposed to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration process was liberalized and 2nd-level registrations were also permitted. Already bought 3rd-level domain names remained active.
